PRODUCTS: Cold Formed Parts
Cold Forming (also referred to as "cold forging") is a high-speed, progressive die, metal forming process used to make special fasteners, tools, shafts and many other unique components. The process can often achieve significant cost savings in raw material that are the result of "net shaping" instead of machining/turning.
Cold Heading--the most basic form of Cold Forming--is fast but simple (one die) and typically associated with fasteners (such as screws, bolts, rivets and pins) that have heads, and often threads.
Cold Forming extends the forming process across several die stations (up to six!) and is capable of producing complex shoulders and shapes that would often require expensive secondary operations in other manufacturing processes.
Result: Value Added.
Cold Forming is still a mystery to some design engineers.
Often they design components for machining because of familiarity. Fasco provides the knowledge and expertise to demystify the process. We are available to visit your facility and work with your technical staff. Fasco will provide alternatives that meet your application’s parameters--and your budget.

Examples:
Need a hollow part?
- Cold Forming can save on the cost of secondary drilling.
Need a part with an asymmetrical shape?
- Cold Forming can eliminate the need for stamping.
Need a robust design that will last?
- Cold Forming work hardens the raw material, often rendering heat treatment unnecessary.
Need a gear form, but want to save on the tooling?
- Gears can be produced economically as a primary operation in Cold Forming; or
- Combine Cold Forming AND Secondary Machining Operations for a precision part that still offers economy.
